Aegean Brushstrokes

In the southeast part of the Aegean Sea rests twelve major islands, known as the Dodecanese. This collection features unexpected canvases - rocks, barrels and pieces of wood - that local fishermen use for removing excess paint from their brushes after painting their boats. The paint ridges have curled from years of being baked by the fierce, Mediterranean sun. Over time the layering of bubblegum, pastel colors have melted into visual treasures.
